Here we have a Theatrical Version of "Jason Lives", which is the original theatrical cut of the film, with two minor differences. First, the film has 2 minutes and 18 seconds cut from it (where Jason is thought to be killed by Alakazam) and secondly the film's credits sequence is different as well. With the exception of these two changes, this transfer of "Jason Lives" looks almost exactly the same as the uncut version used for the previous Blu-ray releases of the film. The only addition to the new Blu-ray release (which is a good thing as it's the only version available as far as I know) is the new "Second Look" feature where the viewer is able to watch the film through Jason's eyes in the original theatrical cut as he is about to be killed by the police again (which is exactly the same as how the film was viewed on television and later released on VHS). On top of that, this transfer looks great to me. The Video and Audio are strong, there is no Digital enhancement and not a single artefact in sight! The Audio is perfect and still sounds great, while the Video is also near perfect and looked a million times better. Colors have been bumped up just a bit which takes away a little of the photosensitivity thing that happened for decades, but overall, I'd have to say this is one of the best Blu-ray transfers we've seen. It's almost like there wasn't a Video transfer in the first place! This would make a great gift for any movie fan and anyone who has never seen the film before.
I'm not a huge fan of the Friday the 13th Collection from Scream Factory, but I am finding it worth a watch Freddy vs. Jason (*** 1/2 out of *****) is a pretty fun film. I love watching the original Nightmare on Elm Street films, and I love how the Freddy vs. Jason series keeps continuity with all previous films. Freddy is the epitome of human evil, and the Jason Voorhees character seems to be growing more and more human by the movie. d2c66b5586
