Brian Charles Lara established himself as the West Indian innings champion and the world’s leading batsmen by the time he retired from first-class cricket in 2004. In 2005 he played in his final Test series and bowled himself to the crease in both innings. On the first day of the second match of that series, Lara scored arguably the fastest Test double century, in terms of numbers of balls, and the first ever Test triple century. The next year, he captained the West Indies to a Test series victory against England for the first time in 12 years. The West Indies won the first Test at Port-of-Spain, and Lara immediately had England chasing 256 to win. After taking a few early wickets, a scorerate of more than 30 runs per over, Lara never looked troubled in England's first innings, scoring 183 not out at a run a ball.
The left-hander announced his retirement, at the urging of Viv Richards, after scoring his tenth Test triple century, in the 2011 season. The following day, in Antigua, he broke Sir Garfield Sobers' record for the fastest century in Test cricket. Lara's status as the best batsman in the world and West Indies teammate Richards are undisputed, and Lara as Test captain was one of the first batsman in Test history to score 10,000 runs and 1,000 runs in a calendar year. He also holds the record for most Test centuries at the start of the match, best average in Test cricket, and most runs by an opener in Test cricket. Until the 2014 season, he had also averaged more than 50 runs for every 100 balls faced. His career haul of 356 wickets is the second-highest by a West Indian, and his 9,194 Test runs are the most by a West Indian, behind Richards.
The West Indies Cricket Board has announced that Brian Lara will be appointed as the Head Coach of West Indies Team their 50 over and T20 Internationals team, which will to play in World Cup 2017. He worked as a coach for 3 years before he was appointed as the coach. d2c66b5586
