To get started, you need to identify the address of the server you want to join. If you own a Shockbyte server, you can find your server address on your control panel. This will be labeled as Server Address.
In the example above, the server address is 192.168.2.1:12345 Breaking this down, the server IP is the set of numbers before the : symbol while the numbers after this are the server port.
To find this information log into your account at and navigate to your Terraria servers main control panel. On the left hand side you will find a box containing your servers status, IP:Port and CPU/Memory/Disk Space usage. Make a note of the listed IP:Port, though they will be used separately.
Enter the IP address for your server where the blinking cursor bar appears. The IP for your server will be shown on the \"Overview\" tab of the Nodecraft control panel, below all the graphs showing things like CPU and RAM usage.
If you have previously entered an IP address on this screen, it will be shown directly below the blinking cursor bar, in grey text. You can click on any of those links to go straight to that server (as long as that server is actually running).
The command ban will ban the indicated player from the server. A banned player, when they try to login, will be displayed the message:You are banned for [duration]: [reason]- [modname]. A banned player may then be un-banned by editing the file \"banlist.txt,\" which is located in the Terraria folder. This document contains a list of all currently banned players. To un-ban a player, delete the player's name and IP address from the list.
Below are instructions for a very basic LAN party setup. At the very least, all computers must be connected to the same network for this to work. If you feel so inclined, you can set the server to have a static LAN IP address, but that's not really necessary. Note that these instructions are targeted at people who have little to no networking experience, and just want to play games.
Firstly, you must find out your IP address. Click Start and type in CMD in the \"Search programs and files\" bar. This will bring up the command prompt. For Windows XP go to the Start menu then All Programs then Accessories and finally click on Command Prompt. Type in ipconfig in the Command Prompt and press enter to bring up your network information. Find the network adapter you are using and write down the IPv4 address as well as the default gateway IP.
an internet browser and enter the default gateway IP in the address bar. This should bring up a login screen for your router. Enter the username and password. This should be 'admin' (this depends on what brand and model is, if the username and password don't work, find the model of your router and go to portforward.com, and filter results down to your particular router) for both, if you have never changed the settings for the router before. If you do not know, then check your router's user manual or go to the router manufacturer's website and look up the manual for your router. Once you are in your router interface locate the port forwarding options. Create a new rule with your computer's IPv4 address, put \"7777 to 7777\" for the port range, and allow TCP & UDP. Optionally, if you can set a name for the rule, name it Terraria. Save your changes.
Finally, open up a search engine in your webbrowser and type in whatsyouripaddress and find a website that will give you your external IP address. This is then IP that you will give to your friends to connect to your server with port 7777,
