This section describes the programming interface of the UART Cortex Microcontroller Software Interface Standard (CMSIS) driver. And this driver defines generic peripheral driver interfaces for middleware making it reusable across a wide range of supported microcontroller devices. Things got complicated because the event callbacks of the CMSIS driver interface don't support passing user data (calling context) as a void pointer.
